Last post we talked about the Cross, where Christ paid the price for our sin. He made a way for us to trade our eternal death for eternal life. In this post I want to talk about the resurrection. The good news is that Christ did not stay dead We read in Acts 13:29-30 “When they had carried out all that was written concerning Him, they took Him down from the cross and laid Him in a tomb. But God raised Him from the dead;” He beat death! Revelations 1:18 “and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades.” He defeated death and hell. In the garden we learn that sin came into the world (Learn More). The standard for heaven is perfection and we fall short. Christ came as the spotless sacrifice to pay that price. (The Cross). When He rose from the grave He upset the devil’s plan to hold captive all those who die. The power of the Cross is that God judged our sins and Christ paid our sentence for those sins. The power of the resurrection is where God by His spirit secured eternal life both in this life and in the next. Romans 6:4-5 “Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.” Romans 8:11 “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”
The resurrection of Christ is where our life began. It’s what gives us the power to walk in all that God has for us. Let it sink in that we do not serve a God who is dead. He is alive and He is an active part of our lives.
I encourage you to take some time and read about the resurrection. Luke 24
